Growing Practices: 

To control weeds: shade cloth, row covers, foliar feeds, wood ash
For pests: hand weeding, crop rotation
Fertilizers: organic compost, foliar feeds, kelp, mineral and plant extract
To increase soil fertility we use these cover crops: alfalfa, legumes, weeds, drip irrigation where applicable

Farm History: 

Maggie's Farm was started in 1995 when Dennis Peitso and Andrea Crawford divorced, splitting Kenter Canyon Farms into Maggie's Farm and Kenter Canyon Farms. Maggie's Farm focuses on small-scale, high-quality, greens and herbs. We pride ourselves on growing produce that we ourselves would want to eat every day. In 2007 Dennis Peitso's son Nathan took over the farm and continues the operation in the style taught to him by his parents.
