THE FRESH ART PROGRAM HAS BEEN SUSPENDED WITH THE DEVELOPMENT OF GLOW.
Nadia Reed Dogtown acrylic paint Fresh Art (September 22 – November 25, 2001) in Clover Park
My goal in painting for the Fresh Art project was to create a dance within a painting. I want my brush strokes to show a colorful glimmer of the movement and action that takes place in Clover Park year round. My mural is intended to celebrate the pageantry and festivals and the daily life of people who relax and play in public spaces. - Nadia Reed, September 2001

Fresh Art was a temporary public art program directed expressly to those
artists who lived and/or worked in Santa Monica and had little or no
public art experience. Four site specific works were selected for
temporary placement in a Santa Monica Park annually in the fall with
applications available the preceding spring. Proposals were selected by a
panel of professional artists and arts administrators based on their
artistic merit, potential to engage the specific community and
neighborhood in which they were sited, how they reflected the diversity
found within the Santa Monica community and how responsive they would be
to the physical and/or cultural context of the site. Proposals were
required to be for original works which had never before been exhibited. |
