Original Muscle Beach Rubberized Surface Replacement

Project Information

The Original Muscle Beach was originally built in 1934 as a federally funded project through the Works Progress Administration (WPA). During the 1930s, 40s and 50s, acrobats, muscle men and bathing beauties at the Original Muscle Beach located just south of the Santa Monica Pier drew huge crowds. At this site, athletic equipment like rings, parallel bars, balance bars & more are available at no charge.

This project involves the demolition and replacement of approximately 3,000 sq. ft. of existing rubberized surface material at the Original Muscle Beach.
