Fire Station 3 Seismic Retrofit

Project Information

Fire Station No. 3 is a two-story, wood frame and stucco structure that was built circa 1970 and is located at 1302 19th Street in Santa Monica, California. This station is currently in active use serving the northern and central area of the City of Santa Monica. However, the station needs to be upgraded to meet the current seismic standards, in order to provide essential services as defined in the California Building Codes.

An analysis was completed to identify structural deficiencies and develop of documents to implement upgrades addressing those deficiencies. This project involves upgrades to address identified structural deficiencies as well as make associated accessibility improvements. The project’s design includes consideration of the facility's coastal location, neighborhood vicinity, and use and maintenance as a public structure.
