Join our dynamic fast-paced team as a Farmers Market Volunteer Intern! We are looking for responsible, dedicated, outgoing folks to assist with Farmers Market operations on-site and in our administrative office. Interns have the opportunity to select a focus in social media/marketing, education, or statistics and work with Farmers Market staff to develop goals and projects in that area. This is an unpaid volunteer internship and requires a minimum time commitment of ten hours per week for a period of ten weeks or more.


Communications Intern:

  • Researching and writing relevant weekly social media posts
  • Utilizing Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. to further the goals of the SMFMs and increase social media following (and attendance at the markets!)
  • Graphic design / info graphics
  • Videography and video editing

Education Intern:

  • Assisting Education Coordinator in teaching market field trip classes
  • Designing lesson plans and materials
  • Must be available Wednesdays from 8:00am – 12pm
  • Note: the Education Intern will do more administrative/preparatory work and programming for the classes, while the Education Volunteer will be involved in the setup/breakdown of the booth, shopping for items at the market, and providing support to the teacher

Statistics/Analytics Intern:

  • Assisting Market management team in planning, collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data
  • Conduct research projects on farmers market statistical data
  • Provide feedback on how to improve market operations based on project analysis
  • Graduate students preferred

Volunteer Coordinator Intern:

  • Assist new volunteers and interns through the application and onboarding processes
  • Engage in outreach to gain new volunteers and interns as needed


  • Ability to commit for a minimum of 3 months
  • College age or above 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as excellent computer skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team 
  • Enthusiasm for Farmers Markets, small farmers, locally grown produce, and environmental sustainability!!
