Community Gardens

There are 3 community gardens locations with plots available for resident to rent and 1 communally grown learning garden in Santa Monica. Participation is open to Santa Monica residents, with applications accepted on an ongoing basis. Plots are assigned as they become available in the order in which applications are received. All gardeners must sign an annual Garden Permit and pay a licensing fee of $100-$132 per calendar year (pro-rated by quarter). New gardeners receive an orientation session. Santa Monica residency required.

Please note: Demand for community garden plots far exceeds supply.  It may take years before you are assigned a plot.

Marine Park Community Garden Proposed Plan

The City of Santa Monica plans to construct Community Garden plots in the southwest corner of Marine Park, adjacent to the tennis courts. The garden plots will be modular raised beds within an enclosed (fenced) area.

You are invited to participate in two Community Engagement Discussions to help determine final arrangement and programming for the community garden.  Plans/Drawings of the future garden will be available along with sample raised-bed garden plots. City Staff will be available to answer questions about the future garden at Marine Park and to provide information about gardening programs throughout the City. The first event will be held on-line Thursday, January 27th, while the second will be held on site at the proposed garden location, Saturday, January 29th.  To get times and log in information, please visit the Marine Park Website.
