Community Gardens

There are 3 community gardens locations and a learning garden in Santa Monica. Participation is open to Santa Monica residents, with applications accepted on an ongoing basis. Plots are assigned as they become available in the order in which applications are received. All gardeners must sign an annual licensing agreement and pay a licensing fee of $100 per calendar year (pro-rated by quarter). New gardeners receive an orientation session. Santa Monica residency required.

Please note: Demand for community garden plots far exceeds supply.  It may take years before you are assigned a plot.

2020/21 Garden Permit Renewals

NEW FOR JULY 2020: We will be changing out Permit System to ActiveNet. We will be contacting all current gardeners regarding their account in the Spring of 2020. There will be no change to your assigned garden plot or garden status. Utilizing ActiveNet, community gardeners will be able to quickly make payments online, updated their information and review permit details. Payment information will be sent shortly after the plot is verified with current resident status for the 2020/21 year. Please see links below for our Rules and Regulations along with our Good Neighbor Policy.

For any questions about ActiveNet or verifying a plot for the 2020/21 year, contact Silvia Quintana at gardens@smgov.net or 310-458-8300.
