Consumer Protection Unit

Federal and state consumer protection agencies are investigating Volkswagen's disclosure that nearly 500,000 diesel vehicles sold in the US and 11 million vehicles worldwide are equipped with software that allows engines to cheat emissions tests.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the affected vehicles are Volkswagen Jetta models from 2009 to 2015; VW Beetle and Passat models from 2012 to 2015; and Audi A3 and Volkswagen Golf diesel models from 2010-2015. These vehicles have 4-cylinder, 2.0 TDI (turbodiesel) engines.

If you bought or leased one of these vehicles in California and want to make a complaint, you can contact the California Attorney General's Office at (916) 322-3360, or use the agency's online complaint form.
