What transportation services are available to people with disabilities?
Metro and the Big Blue Bus have reduced fares for riders with disabilities. Access Services operates curb to curb transportation in Los Angeles County. WISE and Healthy Aging operates a Dial-A-Ride curb to curb service (limited door through door now available) in Santa Monica.
How do I get a blue disabled person placard for my car?
Disabled person placards are issued by the DMV. The DMV can be visited online at www.dmv.ca.gov.  
I have a disability and I'm having trouble with my landlord. Where can I turn?
Please see our  quick guide for tenants with disabilities and landlords, or contact the City Attorney's Office Consumer Proection Unit. Legal assistance is also available through the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles.  
I have questions about my child's special education needs and rights. Where can I get answers?
Special education is provided by the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District. Information on the Special Education District Advisory Council can be found online at www.smmusd.org/special_education/sedac.html.
Where can I get help for someone who is disabled and unable to make their own meals?
Meal on Wheels West delivers meals. Visit www.mealsonwheelswest.org for more information.
Who can help me file my application for disability benefits?

The Westside Center for Independent Living helps people with disabilities live independently. See the  Programs and Resources page for contact information.

 Where can I rent a beach wheelchair?
Many beaches offer free beach wheelchairs on a first come, first serve basis. Click here for more information.
How do I get an assistive listening device or other disability-related accommodation needed to attend a public meeting?
City public meetings and events are open to people of all abilities. Contact the City office listed on the meeting notice, at least 3 business days in advance of the meeting. If you decide to not attend the meeting, please let City staff know as soon as possible.
