A native and third generation Angeleno, Jackie Rivera-Krouse is a lifelong fan of local farmers’ markets and has over a decade of experience working with numerous California Certified farmers’ markets in Los Angeles County from micro (10 or less vendors) to mega (over 150 vendors). In 2005 she began working at Sustainable Economic Enterprises of Los Angeles (SEE-LA), and she held various positions including Market Manager, Grant Writer, and Social Media specialist; most recently, she served as the Program Director at SEE-LA with a focus on nutrition access and assistance programs for the non-profit’s six farmers’ markets.
Jackie has additionally worked closely with the Los Angeles Food Policy Council (Farmers For All Working Group), California Alliance of Farmers’ Markets, California Market Match Consortium, CDFA Specialty Crop Block Grant Technical Review Committee, and the California Small Farm Conference, and her work spanned from farmers’ market manager education to farmers market policy and nutrition advocacy. Her work’s main thread has been to support local family farms, as well as to inclusively connect communities to the good food and uplifting activity that a farmers’ market provides.”

Sunday Main Street Farmers Market Manager
A local Santa Monica resident, Jodi Low brings her passion for food, farming and community building as well as experience in event management to her work with the Santa Monica Farmers Markets. These passions started at an early age cooking and gardening with her family in Northern California. Her love for farming blossomed when she attended summer camp at Hidden Villa, a working farm, where she learned to care for farm animals and cultivate produce.
Jodi attended Sonoma State where she received a BA in Environmental Studies with an emphasis in restoration, politics and international studies. The class she enjoyed the most, however, was agro-ecology, and she could often be found in the college's small farm weeding and planting. Today she cultivates her own organic garden at Ocean View Farms, where she has been a member since 2001. Jodi is responsible for management of the Sunday Main Street Farmers Market as well as graphic design, publicity and website design/maintenance for the Santa Monica Farmers Market department.

Saturday Pico Farmers Market Manager
Kym is a local Santa Monica resident, and comes from a family of passionate gardeners and food lovers. She graduated from Culver City High School, attended Santa Monica College, and graduated from Cal State Long Beach with a degree in Recreation and Human Services. After obtaining her degree, she moved to Arizona to pursue a career in municipal recreation. Kym worked with the City of Mesa, Arizona for 23 years, and has extensive experience in recreation programs, facility management and customer service.
Kym served as a liaison between Mesa Public Schools and the City of Mesa to bring healthy school breakfast and lunch to community recreation centers and summer programs. She initiated nutrition and cooking programs at five community recreation centers in Mesa AZ and was instrumental in the movement of the City of Mesa toward healthy vending offerings for staff and youth. Kym brings a wide variety of experiences to the Farmer's Market team, which includes youth programs, special events, sports, registration and reservations, and she also was the manager of the Red Mountain Multigenerational Center which offered fitness and wellness programs for all ages. As a Southern California native, Christine has had the opportunity to frequent farmers markets up and down the Central coast; as far north as San Francisco and down to San Diego. While living in San Diego in 2007 and frequenting the city’s farmers’ markets she fell in love with the community spirit of the farmers and the locals/tourists visiting each week. The diversity and energy within and around the market was contagious and she has often frequented farmers market throughout her travels. Christine previously worked in the marketing and events department for a local Los Angeles shopping center where she supervised the Sat
urday farmers market program and regularly partnered with the farmers market manager for special events, such as Earth Day and health fairs. Having an opportunity to work with the farmers market manager and team gave her greater insight on the special relationship with farmers and the community.
Christine received her BA in Communications at Cal State LA and her MS in Nonprofit Management at Northeastern University.

Accounting Manager / Education Coordinator
Rufiena Jones love for food began as a child watching her grandmothers prepare their versions of traditional soul food recipes during holiday seasons. While intrigued by the variations of ingredients and processes used to prepare the same dishes, Rufiena was most moved by the unifying element the food had, bringing friends and family together every year. In 2003, Rufiena graduated from Mills College with a degree in Media Studies and Sociology. Her studies expanded her interest in exploring cultures of the world through language, spirituality, art and cuisine. In 2006, her interest in cultural exploration grew into a commitment to cultural exchange when she traveled to Thailand as a Fulbright Fellow to teach English, and in exchange, experience the warmth and vibrance of Thai culture that one can taste in Thai cuisine. In 2005, Rufiena became a faithful Farmers Market attendee when she was wowed by the flavor of organic, locally-grown produce sold at farmers markets in Berkeley, CA. During the same year, she personally experienced the healing properties of a diet consisting mostly of these foods. She’s dedicated to advocating for healthier eating ever since. Rufiena has a unique combination of teaching, accounting and administrative experience, as well as a passion for delicious, healthy food. She is responsible for all accounts payable and also provides support in the areas of social media and marketing. She is also a back-up for volunteer and intern coordination.

Farmers Market Attendants
Farmers Market Set Up Team
The primary responsibility of the Farmers Market Attendants is to set up and take down the market each week. Tasks include driving a variety of City vehicles, lifting and moving bulky items such as canopies, tables and signs weighing up to 60 lbs., maintaining equipment, interacting with other city departments including Solid Waste and Support Services, and setting up signs on roadways. In addition, a Farmers Market Attendant interacts with customers in the farmers market information booth.
