Pier Bridge Replacement

Project Information

The Pier Bridge will be replaced with a new bridge structure providing safety for pedestrians, bicyclists and vehicles. New bridge would comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Caltrans Highway Bridge Program provides funding for this project that qualifies for 100% reimbursement.

Pier Use and Access Study - Staff Report by Office of Pier Management - March 28, 2017 March 28, 2017 - Pier Use and Access Study - Staff Report Santa Monica Pier Corporation (Pier Board) continues to endorse the two-bridge proposal (Colorado Avenue and Moss Avenue bridges) which could prioritize pedestrian access and safety by separating pedestrians and bicycles from vehicles and could also unlock new opportunities for activities and uses on the Pier by allowing the Pier to reclaim areas that had previously been used for vehicle movement and parking.
