The Conservation Element incorporates state guidelines with citizens’ goals and objectives for planned management, preparation and utilization of natural resources. The objective of conservation is to prevent the wasteful exploitation, destruction or neglect of resources. This element attempts to evaluate the city’s natural resources as a basis for future decision-making in regards to the city’s development.
Goals from the Citizens Advisor Committee:
- Preservation of the ecological balance and natural resources of the city and conservation of the energies and materials without serious interference with community needs.
- An atmosphere free of air pollution.
- A community whose appearance is in harmony with its self and its setting.
The most recent update to the conservation Element was adopted in 1975.
