Where to Shop

As people learn more about how much their food choices matter, there is a growing number of producers and businesses finding innovative ways to meet the demand. Many communities, including Santa Monica, offer regular farmers markets (details at www.smgov.net/farmers_market), where you can find tasty, pesticide-free, locally grown, and/or organic fruits, vegetables, and more. Retailers and wholesalers are offering more local and sustainable items to their customers, and marketing and labeling their products to help consumers make the sustainable choice.

If you want local, organic, and sustainably produced food in your community, your markets, and your restaurants it’s important to ask for it, buy it when you can, and encourage others to do the same. The more we support and request sustainable food the more retailers will meet our demand, making it more accessible and affordable for everyone.
