Transportation of Hazardous Waste:

Proper Transport of Hazardous Waste: State and federal law prohibits the transport of over 15 gallons or 125 pounds of hazardous waste at any one time. A special variance may be issued through the City to allow a business to legally transport between 15 and up to 27 gallons or 220 pounds of hazardous waste at one time to the Hazardous Waste Drop-off Center for Small Business. No variance is necessary for shipments of up to 15 gallons. Businesses may request this variance when making their drop-off appointment. When transporting hazardous waste to the collection facility, all materials should be in an original container if possible and covered with a secure fitting lid. The contents of each container must be clearly labeled.
