Buying Green Procurement Policies
|
Procurement Policies outlines the various ordinances, policies and
programs related to sustainable procurement that the City of Santa
Monica has introduced over the past 20 years. For a list of formal policies, check out the Responsible
Purchasing Network website.Santa Monica is committed to making
procurement decisions which minimize negative environmental and social
impacts, protect the public health and save staff time, resources, and
money.
The procurement of products and services by the city results in
environmental and social impacts both in this country and in other areas
of the world. The policy emphasizes long-term values to protect
against unnecessary impacts and is intended to become a model for other
public as well as private organizations to follow. The policies apply to
city programs and services in all areas.
