1. How can I check the status of my application?
You may check the status of your application by logging onto www.waitlistcheck.com and inputting the username and password created during the application process. Please note that confirmation of receipt of your application to SMHA does not mean you are automatically eligible for assistance. You may also check the status of your application by using the Internet Voice Response phone system by dialing 1-800-376-5058. Be prepared to enter your year of birth and social security number.

2. When I check my status at www.waitlistcheck.com, it shows my status as active/inactive. What does that mean?
Active status means that you are currently ON the Santa Monica Housing Authority's wait list. When your name reaches the top of the wait list, you will receive correspondence from SMHA at your address on record. Please make certain to notify SMHA of any income, family composition or address changes.

3. How do I inform the Santa Monica Housing Division of a change of address after submitting my application?
While the family is on the waiting list, the family must immediately inform the SMHA of changes in income and contact information, including residence, mailing address, and phone number. The changes must be submitted in writing within fifteen (15) calendar days of the date of the change using the Assistance Check website.

4. How long will it take before I receive housing assistance?
Unfortunately we are unable to determine the length of time you will have to wait before your name reaches the top of the list. Names are taken from the waiting list as those currently being assisted leave the program and new funds become available. New funds are not received on a regular basis and we do not know when funding will be available.
