Events

Please note:  The City of Santa Monica cares about your health and safety. We are working closely with the LA County Department of Public Health to monitor the novel coronavirus. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the City of Santa Monica is postponing all Woodlawn events until further notice. For more preventative steps and the latest Santa Monica-specific information about the novel coronavirus, visit santamonica.gov/coronavirus.  As a reminder, please stay home when sick, wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, and avoid touching your face with unwashed hands.

Woodlawn Cemetery and the City of Santa Monica host a number of programs throughout the year to honor those who have passed. We invite you to join us in celebrating and remembering us at these events:

Living History Tours

History comes alive at Woodlawn Cemetery, Mausoleum & Mortuary as we present our Living History Tours. Join us as costumed guides portraying noted personalities interred at Woodlawn highlight tours of our facility and share their stories and contributions to history and society.

Annual Memorial Day Observance

Every Memorial Day, Woodlawn honors our nation’s brave men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.  The ceremony is open to the public. Local civic groups and dignitaries and patriotic music performances help mark the occasion.

Tree of Life & Holiday Open House

During the winter holiday season, Woodlawn staff extends an invitation to the community to ring in the holiday season at our facility as well as honor departed loved ones. Decorate our Tree of Life, located in the Mausoleum lobby, with ornaments provided by the Cemetery that can be personalized in memory of loved ones and placed on the tree. This annual event also features live holiday music performances, photos with Santa, light refreshments, a holiday movie on our Mausoleum big screen, holiday face painting designs by Rainbow Painted Smiles and more. The Tree of Life & Holiday Open House also kicks off Woodlawn's toy donation drive for the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, so feel free to bring toy donations to the event.
