About: Opened to the public in February 2017, Ishihara Park is a linear community park named after George Ishihara, a local resident who fought in the Japanese-American 442nd Regimental Combat Team during World War ll. The 2.35 acre park site was formerly used as a parking lot and site for utility buildings. With the construction of a new Metro maintenance facility across from a residential neighborhood, the park in intended to provide a visual and environmental shield for the nearby residents from the facility and its active rail operations.
