Community Gardens

There are 3 community gardens locations and a learning garden in Santa Monica. Participation is open to Santa Monica residents, with applications accepted on an ongoing basis. Plots are assigned as they become available in the order in which applications are received. All gardeners must sign an annual licensing agreement and pay a licensing fee of $100 per calendar year (pro-rated by quarter). New gardeners receive an orientation session. Santa Monica residency required.

Please note: Demand for community garden plots far exceeds supply.  It may take years before you are assigned a plot.

  • Main Street, between Strand & Hollister (73 plots)
  • Park Drive, between Santa Monica Blvd & Broadway (38 plots, including 1 accessible plot)
  • Euclid Park, 1525 Euclid Street (10 plots, including 2 accessible and 3 short-term plots)

How to Apply

Proof of residency is required (drivers license or government-issued photo ID, and either a rental agreement, mortgage statement, or current utility bill).

2018/19 Online Permit Portal for Santa Monica Community Gardens

NEW FOR JULY 2018: The City of Santa Monica Community Gardens is upgrading its system to an online portal called Santa Monica Citizens Access (Accela). There will be no change to your assigned garden plot or garden status. Utilizing the Santa Monica Citizen Access portal, community gardeners will be able to quickly make payments online, check the status and inspections of their plot, and/or update their information. Login information will be sent shortly after the plot is verified with current resident status for the 2018/19 year.  A video tutorial is available with instructions on how to use this new online system.

For any questions about Santa Monica Citizens Access or verifying a plot for the 2018/19 year, contact Silvia Quintana at or 310-458-8300.
