Rosie's Girls

The City of Santa Monica has extended our local emergency and all orders until June 30.

We care about your health and safety, and we are working closely with the LA County Department of Public Safety to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Given the “Stay at Home” orders from California Governor Gavin Newsom, the City of Santa Monica is cancelling CREST Programs, effective now, all public events and extending facility closures through June 30. This means that all closures, including City Hall and City facilities (including beach parking closures and impacts on City services) are effective until June 30. We will follow up with refund information. For a full list of closures, cancellations and service changes, visit

As a reminder, please STAY HOME, practice physical distancing of at least 6 feet, wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, and avoid touching your face with unwashed hands.

Rosie’s Girls is a summer camp for girls entering grades 6th- 8th in the upcoming 2020-2021 school year. Rosie's Girls builds self-esteem, leadership, and physical confidence through exploration of the trades and other non-traditional activities. Santa Monica's unique program combines creative expression and physical challenges with civic engagement. Participants go behind the scenes in various parts of the City to see what it takes to make Santa Monica run. Rosie's Girls has been recognized for excellence by the California Park and Recreation Society and the League of California Cities.

Why Trades?

Whether in a shop or applied to "real world" projects, trades activities offer an unusual and especially powerful vehicle for girls to develop a broader sense of themselves and their capabilities. Trades activities challenge girls to learn self-reliance, expand their math and science skills,  develop new areas of physical confidence, expand the range of careers they might envision for themselves, and push past preconceived limitations.
