The Legend of Pancho Barnes: A Documentary Screening & Filmmaker Q&A
at the Santa Monica Public Library

Santa Monica, California – The Santa Monica Public Library presents a special free screening of the documentary The Legend of Pancho Barnes and the Happy Bottom Riding Club, followed by a filmmaker Q&A, on Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at 7:00 p.m., in the Main Library’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Auditorium, 601 Santa Monica Blvd. 

Produced by Nick Spark and directed by Amanda Pope, The Legend of Pancho Barnes and the Happy Bottom Riding Club chronicles the life and impact of pioneering aviatrix, Florence “Pancho” Barnes.  A contemporary of Amelia Earhart, Barnes was the also the first female movie stunt pilot, and her ranch (affectionately known as the Happy Bottom Riding Club) was a favorite hangout for jet age legends like Chuck Yeager and Howard Hughes.  Following the film screening, producer Nick Spark will participate in an audience Q&A.

This program is presented free to the public.  Seating is limited and on a first arrival basis.
