Dear Harvey: A Play About Harvey Milk at the Santa Monica Public Library

The Santa Monica Public Library presents a special free staged reading of Dear Harvey – A Play About Harvey Milk by the Celebration Theatre Company of West Hollywood on Saturday, May 22, 2010, at 3:00 p.m., in the Main Library’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Auditorium, 601 Santa Monica Blvd.

Dear Harvey is presented to mark the first observance of Harvey Milk Day in the State of California. Written by Patricia Loughrey (, the play celebrates the pioneering gay and civil rights leader through letters and reminiscences of those who knew him and whose lives he impacted. Cast members from the Celebration Theatre Company ( will be joined onstage by surprise guest actors for this unique, one-time performance.

This program is presented free to the public. Seating is limited and is first come, first served. Tickets for seating are required, and will be released one hour prior to program (at 2:00 p.m. in the Library’s lobby). One ticket per guest; guest must be present to receive a ticket. No seating will take place after the performance begins.
