Old telephone directories may be recycled at any time of the year with other mixed paper recyclables in the blue recycling container. Residents living in multi-family dwellings may recycle telephone books at the nearest 300-gallon recycling container located in their alley.

Larger commercial entities having more than fifty telephone books may participate in the special collections program. This service is offered in April and May. Containers for telephone books are delivered to your business and collected once full.

For more information on drop-off locations or the special collections program, please call the Solid Waste Management Division at (310) 458-2223, Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Fridays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. You may also leave a message after hours and on weekends; your call will be returned on the next business day.
