The Santa Monica Police Department's Reserve Police Officer program is a volunteer organization comprised of responsible, civic-minded citizens who give their time to support the department. They receive a special commission and wear the same uniform as regular officers, with a reserve badge.

Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and in good physical condition. They undergo a rigorous application procedure including a polygraph, psychological evaluation, and background investigation. For more information about SMPD's Reserve Police Officer program, please call (310) 458-8443.
