800 - Child Abuse

Child abuse is violence against a minor that may be physical, emotional, sexual or economic in nature. Victims of abuse may get help by contacting local social service agencies, hospital emergency room personnel, the local police department, religious organizations or through school personnel. In situations that are life-threatening, please call 9-1-1.

For 24-hour information, counseling and shelter assistance, call the Sojourn Services Hotline for Battered Women & Children at 264-6644.

The Santa Monica Police Department also offers assistance to victims of abuse. If you suspect a child is being abused, call the Santa Monica Police Department Domestic Violence Unit at (310) 458-8943, Tuesday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. After hours, call the police dispatcher at (310) 458-8491. You may also call the Los Angeles County Child Abuse Hotline at 1-800-540-4000.
