742 - City Parks & Beach
The City of Santa Monica's Community Maintenance Department provides
and maintains parks and outdoor recreational facilities for the
enjoyment of all citizens, including more than 125 developed park acres. A complete description of the city's
26 parks is available at Clover Park, 2600 Ocean Park Blvd. or on the web at
smgov.net.
Following is a brief description of some of the major facilities and attractions:
- Palisades Park, approximately 26.41 acres, is located along Ocean Avenue . It is the largest developed park in the city and offers a panoramic view of the
city's coastline. Also located in the park is a jogging trail, the Senior Recreation Center, Visitor Center and outdoor restrooms. The park is open year round and closes daily at midnight.
- Clover Park, approximately 17.85 acres, is located at 2600 Ocean Park Boulevard. It is the second largest park in the
city and offers, multi-use fields, sand volleyball court, basketball court, tennis courts, children play areas, outdoor restrooms, a fitness trail and picnic areas. For more information on rental of these facilities, please refer to

- Santa Monica Beach, located along the Santa Monica Bay, is one of
Southern California's most popular public beaches. Lifeguards patrol the
beach area 24 hours a day, although swimming after dark is strongly
discouraged. Restroom facilities are available from 6 a.m. to sunset.
Dogs are not permitted on Santa Monica Beach, nor is smoking.
