Fireworks can bring special meaning to the Fourth of July and other occasions, however, they can cause serious injury and start dangerous fires. For these reasons, it is illegal to possess, transport, discharge or sell fireworks within the City of Santa Monica.

Public displays of fireworks in the Santa Monica area are sponsored by Santa Monica College and other organizations each year. These events are generally offered at no- or low-cost to the general public. Please check the city's Events Calendar for information about local events

If you have any additional questions about fireworks laws in Santa Monica, please call the Fire Prevention Bureau at (310) 458-8915, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
