Fire Department

582 - Fire Safety Inspections

To detect fire hazards and ensure the public's safety, the Santa Monica Fire Department inspects all buildings except one and two family dwellings, in accordance with the Uniform Fire Code. Businesses, commercial properties and multi-family residential buildings are inspected annually. Most routine business fire inspections are conducted by on-duty firefighters supported by fire prevention personnel. The Fire Prevention Division inspects high-rise buildings, health-care, educational, public facilities, places of public assembly, large industrial buildings, multi-family residential buildings and hotels and motels.

If you would like to request an inspection or if you have any questions regarding fire safety inspections, please call the Santa Monica Fire Department at (310) 458-8915.
