Community Involvement

456 - Sustainable Works

Sustainable Works, a local non-profit organization and project of community partners, was developed to educate and support Santa Monica residents in taking action to live more earth-friendly lifestyles. "Sustainable Crews" are groups of eight to ten residents who meet six times to discuss and learn about environmental issues related to water, energy, solid waste, chemicals, transportation, travel, shopping and food. With the help of trained Crew Leader and the Sustainable Worksbook, crew members learn how to reduce environmental impacts and waste less money by adopting simple recommendations at their homes and at work.

Joining a Sustainable Crew is a great way to get involved in the community, meet new people and make a difference. The cost to participate is $25 for city residents. This fee covers the workbook, the services of a trained crew leader and the Sustainable Works staff. To find out more, please contact our office at (310) 458-8716 or write us at sustainableworks@smc.edu.
