302 - Youth Safety (Bicycle and Pedestrian )
"Bicycle Rodeo" is a school program provided by the
Santa Monica Police Department's School Resource Officer for elementary school children to illustrate pedestrian, bicycle and general safety. The Rodeo encourages interaction between a police officer and children while they learn basic safety rules. The children operate bicycles through a mock town that includes various traffic signs and signals. They also practice basic safety rules in a real life setting. The Rodeo is used to promote and develop safety-conscious children. This requires an area of approximately 100 feet by 100 feet, but can be tailored to smaller areas if necessary.
For more information about Bicycle Rodeo, please call the School Resource Officer at (310) 458-8457. After hours, you may leave a message and your call will be returned on the next business day.
