The over-population
of unwanted animals is a serious problem throughout our country.
Consequently, the State of California requires that all dogs or cats be
spayed or neutered upon their adoption. As of July 1, 2007, the adoption
fee for a dog ranges from $33 to $54, and from $23 to $33 for a cat.
When spay or neuter surgery is required, a reduced-cost fee for this
procedure is collected, for an additional charge ranging from $40 to
$130.
If you own a dog or
cat that needs to be spayed or neutered, the Animal Shelter offers
vouchers to Santa Monica residents to help defray the expense. Call the
