REGISTRATION FOR CREST PROGRAMS AND YOUTH SPORTSCREST program logo

Fees are listed per child, per activity. Proof of full-time enrollment in CREST childcare must be submitted with registration in order to receive the discounted rate (not applicable with financial assistance). Financial assistance for all CREST programs is available on a sliding scale to qualifying low- to moderate-income families. The CREST Program is a partnership between the City of Santa Monica and the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District, offering a broad spectrum of before- and after-school activities for youth in grades K – 8.

Extended care from 7–8:30 a.m. and 5–6 p.m. is available for an additional $35 per week.

BEFORE- AND AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS

CHILDCARE PROGRAM (GRADES 4 – 5)
Highly qualified and experienced staff will provide your child with a creative and caring environment, fostering learning while offering opportunities for play. Homework time (with help available, if needed) is balanced with arts and science enrichment activities, supervised recreation, special events and more. Childcare is available from 7:30 a.m. to the start of school and after school dismissal to 6 p.m. Several options are offered to meet your needs.

ENRICHMENT CLASSES (GRADES K-8)
Fall Session: October 1 – November 23
Our Enrichment Program offers the highest quality classes at affordable prices, right at your child’s own school site. Join us for a wide range of fun and interesting classes not offered during the regular school day, including the wildly popular musical theater, science and digital media programs. A new line up of exciting art, dance, language, signing and sports options will also be available! Check your child’s backpack for the brochure during the first week of school, or call 458-8540 to request one by mail. Information will also be available on-line at crest.smgov.net. PLAYGROUND ACCESS (GRADES 1–5)
This program offers supervised, unstructured playground time for up to 2 hours and 15 minutes after school dismissal for 1st through 5th graders. While no fee is required, your child must be enrolled in Playground Access to participate.
 

PLAYGROUND PARTNERSHIP

Playground Partnership, a cooperative effort of the City of Santa Monica and SMMUSD, allows school-aged youth, their friends and families unsupervised use of elementary school playgrounds on weekends. The facilities are available to youth 18 and under, with priority given to children 12 and under. Community youth sports programs with permits are also able to use the school fields on Saturdays.

YOUTH SPORTS (GRADE K-8)

The CREST and Middle School Sports Program is centered on fun, positive sportsmanship and skill development. Grades K – 2 will learn rules and basic skills in a club format (no games) in preparation for the next level of sports participation. Grades 3 – 8 will learn fundamentals of volleyball and football, team work and leadership while meeting new friends during twice weekly practices and weekly games. Start and end times for each club may vary by school site and day.

SUPERSTARS (Grade K)

VOLLEYBALL CLUB
Designed for the beginner, this program will teach boys and girls basic skills and rules of volleyball. Instruction only, no games. Soft volleyballs will be used. Mondays, school dismissal – 2:30 p.m. Participants are picked up from their Kindergarten room.

FLAG FOOTBALL CLUB
Coaches will work with boys and girls to develop basic skills and introduce the game of Flag Football in a fun and educational environment. Instruction only, no games. Mondays, school dismissal – 2:30 p.m. Participants are picked up from their Kindergarten room.

ROOKIES (Grades 1 & 2)

VOLLEYBALL CLUB
This club will prepare boys and girls for the next level of sports participation. Participants learn basic techniques and skills through scrimmages and game situations. Practices only, no games. Mondays 3:15 – 4:15 p.m.
Only full-time CREST childcare participants will be picked up from the childcare room. Other participants will meet the instructor on the athletic field.

FLAG FOOTBALL CLUB
Building on basic skills, participants will learn fundamentals, formations and strategy through game-time situations and scrimmages. Practices only, no games. Mondays, 3:15 – 4:15 p.m. Only full-time CREST childcare participants will be picked up from the childcare room. Other participants will meet the instructor on the athletic field.

LEAGUES (Grades 3 – 8)

VOLLEYBALL & FLAG FOOTBALL
This is traditional sports league program for girls and boys will highlight skill development, active participation and, most of all, sportsmanship, sportsmanship, sportsmanship! Two action-packed practices are held each week in preparation for weekly Saturday games in which everybody plays. Practices are held at each school site.

Grade 5 Wed / Fri School dismissal to 4:30 p.m.
Grade 6 Tues / Thurs 3:15 – 4:45 p.m.
Grade 7 & 8 Wed / Fri 3:15 – 4:45 p.m.

Pre-registration is required. Mail, fax or on-line registration will be accepted until programs are full.
