Santa Monica Festival
Celebrate the Arts in Santa Monica!

Have you ever wanted to dance a fandango with 18-foot tall puppets or perhaps do a hula, a salsa, the mambo or an Irish jig beneath the wide-open sky? What about sauntering through the park accompanied by 10-foot tall Romanian birds and their shepherds? Have you ever wondered how to turn a weed field into a magnificent native garden? Would your kids like to make their own recycled paper, craft a piece of pinch pottery or maybe create a fresh print from a fresh fish? If you said “yes” to any one of these questions, then you don’t want to miss the 11th Annual Santa Monica Festival, Saturday, May 18, from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. in Clover Park, 2600 Ocean Park Blvd. This is just a preview of the Festival’s awesome offerings—and best of all, each of these unique experiences is absolutely free!
This year’s event will feature a special salute to Santa Monica’s prestigious arts organizations. Visitors will enjoy an exciting new ballet, Mavericks, about Southern California’s surfers, sponsored by Highways. The whole family can join in writing and presenting a brand new play with Kidpower from Powerhouse Theatre, or watch Santa Monica’s hottest young poets compete in a poetry “slam” presented by Trade City Productions. Kids can take part in a wide array of visual and performing arts workshops coordinated by the 18th Street Arts Complex and the Santa Monica Museum of Art. Don’t miss this special opportunity to savor a taste of what these exciting hometown organizations have to offer! This year, more than ten thousand people are expected to take a look at how the arts, cultural diversity and an incredible environment have combined to create our idyllic city by the bay. Whether you want to participate in these remarkable activities, or just kick back and enjoy the sights and the sounds, you’ll definitely want to be at the Santa Monica Festival on May 18. See the schedule inside, then bring the kids, bring the parents and bring yourself! Just don’t miss this free celebration of everything that is good in Santa Monica!
