Santa Monica, California – The Santa Monica Public Library is pleased to present an evening with political pundit and author, George Lakoff, on Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at 7:00 p.m., in the Main Library’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Auditorium, 601 Santa Monica Blvd. At the ballot box, many American voters are known to make decisions that are contrary to their own interests. In his latest book, The Political Mind: Why You Can’t Understand 21st Century American Politics with an 18th Century Brain, renowned cognitive scientist and linguist George Lakoff examines this curious political behavior, and explains the roles that emotions vs. logic have in the political decisions we all make. A book sale and signing will follow Mr. Lakoff’s talk. Admission is free. Tickets will be available one hour prior to event. No reserved seating is available, and guests must be on hand to receive an Auditorium ticket. Seating is first come, first served. The Santa Monica Public Library is wheelchair accessible.
