Date: June 6, 2008 Contact: Nancy Bender, Public Services Librarian, (310) 458-8922 Santa Monica Public Library presents Adventure Traveler Don Mankin Santa Monica, California — Santa Monica Public Library presents Adventures for the Seasoned Traveler with Don Mankin on Thursday, June 12, at 7:00 p.m. in the Main Library’s Multipurpose Room, 601 Santa Monica Blvd. The author will discuss his book Riding the Hulahula to the Arctic Ocean: A Guide to 50 Extraordinary Adventures for the Seasoned Traveler. Millions of baby boomers discovered the lure of adventure travel during the ’60s and ’70s, later trading their backpacks for mortgages and turning their attention to families and careers. Now they are ready to rediscover the fun and excitement of traveling off the beaten path. Don Mankin – futurist, psychologist, business consultant, author, and long-time adventure traveler – will describe several unique trips for experienced travelers featured in his book, co-written by Shannon Stowell, with a foreword by Sir Richard Branson. From tracking mountain gorillas in Uganda to exploring the temples and culture of Laos to rafting the Hulahula River in northern Alaska, the trips will inspire adventure-hungry baby boomers and put them back on the road. This program is free and open to the public. Seating is limited and on a first arrival basis.
