Date: February 26, 2008 Contact: Susan Annett, Principal Librarian, Public & Branch Services (310) 458-8640; or Myung Deering, Senior Arts Foundation (310) 804-7667 Santa Monica, California — The Senior Arts Foundation and the city of Santa Monica present “Bridging the Past to the Future” on Saturday, March 15 at 11:00 a.m. at the Santa Monica Public Library’s Martin Luther King Jr. Auditorium, 601 Santa Monica Boulevard. Museum and archival professionals will offer information on collecting and preserving family treasures. Dr. Richard Baum, an African art collector; Virginia Fields, Los Angeles County Museum of Art Curator; Yvonne Szafran, Conservator at the J. Paul Getty Museum; and Ho Nguen, Director of Operations at the Santa Monica Historical Society Museum will talk about how to protect works of art, photographs, letters and other family memorabilia so that they can become beloved legacies for future generations. Joseph Deering, Senior Arts Forum Board Member, will moderate the program. The Senior Arts and Community Forum series is sponsored by the city’s Cultural Affairs and Human Services Divisions, the Santa Monica Public Library, and the Senior Arts Foundation, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to making the arts more accessible to seniors.
