Santa Monica, California — Santa Monica Public Library presents What’s Happening to our Weather?, a talk by Santa Monica College Professor William Selby on the latest science behind climate change and global warming on Saturday, February 23 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fairview Branch Library located at 2101 Ocean Park Boulevard.

What is the difference between natural climate cycles and human-induced climate change?  How will these changes affect us and our environments? Learn about our changing local weather, how atmospheric scientists are working hard to answer these questions, and how we can respond to these challenges and opportunities in some very positive ways.

In addition to teaching a wide range of earth science and geography courses at Santa Monica College, Professor Selby organizes and leads many field trips throughout the state with his colleagues and students. He currently works with SMC’s Center for Environmental and Urban Studies, hosts their lecture series, and serves as an advisor to the City of Santa Monica.  His appearance is courtesy of Santa Monica College’s Speaker’s Bureau.

This program is free and open to the public. All ages are welcome. For more information, contact the Santa Monica Public Library at (310) 458-8600; or visit the Library’s web site at www.smpl.org.
