During the week of March 24 through March 28, landscape crews will be “de-thatching" the lawn at Woodlawn Cemetery, located on Pico Boulevard between 14th and 17th Streets.  De-thatching is a procedure wherein the entire top layer of sod is removed and subsequently re-seeded.  This is done to enhance the appearance of the lawn, keep it healthy and to level the sod to prevent it from becoming too thick.  As a result of the de-thatching, the lawns will appear brown for three to four weeks until the new growth appears.

Signage will be placed around the cemetery grounds informing cemetery visitors and surrounding residents of the grounds maintenance in progress.  Questions and concerns may be directed to the cemetery office at (310) 458-2245.
