Jazz on the Lawn Concert Series Jazzifies City Hall
Third Annual Concert Series Debuts with Michael Sullivan
It’s the absolute best way to spend a hot Sunday afternoon and it’s back!
Starting this Sunday, Santa Monica’s crowd pleasing hot as a pistol yet cool as
a summer breeze Jazz on the Lawn returns to City Hall. Every Sunday in August,
from 5-7 pm, on the front lawn of City Hall, 1685 Main Street, the series will
feature talented jazz artists each bringing their own flavor to the genre and
offering it up free for Santa Monicans. Start off the fun off this weekend when
one of LA’s hottest young jazz talents Michael Sullivan takes the stage on
August 3!
The charismatic songwriter/vocalist Michael Sullivan is known across the country
for his engaging performances that always leave the crowds cheering for more.
With heartfelt original lyrics and captivating low-key sounds, this extremely
talented up-and-coming artist and his band have already enchanted audiences
while touring at colleges and festivals nationwide. The Michael Sullivan Band’s
subtle yet powerful performances are quickly building a fan base. Bill Hartew,
Producer of 95.5 KLOS Los Angeles, has said, “I hear a lot of music in my
position, but Mike's songs really stood out. KLOS will continue to play his
music on the air. I'm sure that very soon, stations across the country will be
playing his CD.”
Michael grew up in Chicago, where at the age of five his mother taught him how
to play the piano and his father gave him his start in singing. Michael came to
California to pursue his musical career, and now lives in Hermosa Beach. His
music is a unique blend of sound influenced by a childhood spent listening to
his mother’s classical piano and his father’s favorite R&B artists Marvin Gaye
and Lionel Richie. That unique combination has resulted in smooth jazz flavored
vocals and original songs that shed light on his innermost thoughts and
feelings, reaching out personally to each member of the audience.
