FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE The Santa Monica Public Library is the place to be on Thursday, December 6, 2007, as the Library presents an evening with rock ‘n’ roll journalist and famed groupie Pamela Des Barres at 7:00 p.m. in the Main Library’s MLK Jr. Auditorium, 601 Santa Monica Blvd. Pamela Des Barres gained fame in the 1980s with her seminal rock ‘n’ roll autobiography, I’m With the Band: Confessions of a Groupie. In 2007, she released Let’s Spend the Night Together: Backstage Secrets of Rock Muses and Super Groupies, a series of interviews with 24 other famous women who inspired and supported the men of rock ‘n’ roll, including Gail Zappa, Cassandra Peterson (aka Elvira), Patti D’Arbanville and the infamous Cynthia Plaster Caster. Des Barres, and special guests from the book, will join the Library and moderator Tony Tripoli (Fashion House, Kathy Griffin: My Life on D List) for a free-wheeling tour through the world of rock ‘n’ roll. This free public program is open to all ages. Auditorium seating is limited, and seating is on a first-arrival basis. For more information, contact the Santa Monica Public Library at (310) 458-8600; or visit the Library’s web site at www.smpl.org.
