The Santa Monica Public Library invites youth grades 5 and up and adults to celebrate Teen Read Week and view a comedy performance by the Joy Theatre Teen Improv Group on Wednesday, October 17 at 7:30 p.m.  Join these teen performers for a fun-filled, laugh out loud evening of sketches and improv comedy in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Auditorium at the Santa Monica Public Library, 601 Santa Monica Blvd.

Teen Read Week is a national adolescent literacy initiative of the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA). This year’s theme is "LOL @ your library" and encourages teens to read humorous books and graphic novels just "for the fun of it." During this week-long celebration from October 14 to 20, libraries around the country will host programs around this theme.

In keeping with the humor theme, the Santa Monica Public Library welcomes teen performers from the Joy Theatre, a unique comedy theatre located in North Hollywood, California. For more information about the Joy Theatre, please visit their website at www.joytheatre.com.

Seating for this event is first-come, first-served. For questions about the upcoming performance showcase at the Main Library, please contact Erica Cuyugan, Young Adult Librarian, at (310) 458-8620.
