Film fans who like their movies scary, gory, creepy and sometimes downright funny, are in for a real treat (no tricks) this Halloween season, as the Santa Monica Public Library hosts the "Tabloid Witch Awards" horror movie marathon on Saturday, October 27, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., in the Main Library’s MLK Jr. Auditorium, 601 Santa Monica Blvd.

Now celebrating its fourth year, the Tabloid Witch Awards is a horror film contest open to unsigned horror feature films and short subjects, and judged by the Hollywood Investigator web site.  For the second year in a row, the Tabloid Witch Award-winning films will be screened in a one-day movie marathon that is free and open to the public.  Several of the winning films’ filmmakers, cast and crew will be on hand for a post-screening Q&A with audience members.

Screenings will include comedic horror with demon-possessed hamsters and lovesick zombies, supernatural westerns, psychological creepfests, homages to Alfred Hitchcock and The Twilight Zone, a short starring Emmy winner America Ferrera (Ugly Betty), and much more.  For a full list of this year’s winning films, visit: www.hollywoodinvestigator.com/2007/horrorfilm2007.htm.

This free public program is open to all ages.  Auditorium seating is limited, and seating is on a first-arrival basis.
