The Senior Arts Foundation and the City of Santa Monica present the first in the Senior Arts Forum series, "Catch the Art Train at Bergamot Station!" on Wednesday, October 10 at 1 p.m. at the Santa Monica Public Library’s Martin Luther King Jr. Auditorium, 601 Santa Monica Boulevard.

"Catch the Art Train at Bergamot Station!" features an expert panel focusing on Bergamot Station, southern California’s largest art gallery complex and cultural center, located on eight acres in Santa Monica. Panelists include William Turner, William Turner Gallery; Asuka Hisa, Santa Monica Museum of Art; Jeff O’Connell, artist and Santa Monica College art faculty; and Cheryl Walker, Emeritus College art faculty.  Moderated by Walter Meyer, Santa Monica College art history professor, the panel will focus on the importance of Bergamot Station as a center of the West Coast art world and the opportunities this resource presents to seniors and others in the community.

The Senior Arts Forum series is sponsored by the City of Santa Monica’s Cultural Affairs Division and Human Services Division; the Santa Monica Public Library; and the Senior Arts Foundation, a local nonprofit organization recently formed to make the arts more accessible to the senior community.  For more information about the Senior Arts Foundation visit www.SeniorArtsFoundation.com. This series is also endorsed by Santa Monica College’s Emeritus College. Future Senior Arts Forum topics will include creating a second career in the arts, explorations of other nearby art venues such as the Getty Museum, sharing the arts with grandchildren, and more.

"Catch the Art Train at Bergamot Station!" is free and open to the public.  Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.  Parking is available in the Main Library’s subterranean parking garage and surface lot and at meters on the surrounding streets.

For more information, call the Senior Arts Foundation at (310) 804-7667, or the Main Library at (310) 458-8600.
