CREATIVE PLAYGROUND PRESENTS THE STORY OF FERDINAND, A "READ FOR THE RECORD" EVENT AT SMPL
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE On Thursday, September 20, at 3:30 p.m., children ages 4 and up and their parents and caregivers will be transported to Ferdinand the bull’s meadow in Spain as they join performers from Creative Playground in bringing to life the classic children’s book, The Story of Ferdinand. Munro Leaf’s story about a young bull who does not like to fight emphasizes the values of non-violence and tolerance for individual differences. Audience members will be invited to make flowers to toss to Ferdinand and play various parts in the story. As one of many “Read for the Record” events taking place all over the country, this program allows participants to be part of a record-setting event for the number of children and adults reading the same book together on the same day! Read for the Record is a campaign created by Jumpstart to support early education. More information on Jumpstart and Read for the Record can be found at www.readfortherecord.org. Creative Playground is a not-for-profit arts association that develops and performs interactive literature-based theater for family audiences. For more information about Creative Playground, go to www.creativeplayground.org. ]For more information about this free public program, and a full schedule of fall events for children, visit www.smplkids.org or call the Youth Services Department at (310) 458-8621. # # # | |
