Santa Monica Public Library presents Future by Design, a film by Academy Award® nominated director William Gazecki, on Thursday, September 13 at 7:00 p.m. in the Main Library’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Auditorium, 601 Santa Monica Blvd.

Future by Design shares the life and vision of Jacque Fresco, considered by many to be a modern day Leonardo Da Vinci. Jacque is a self-taught futurist and a prolific inventor, having spent his entire life (he is now 90 years old) conceiving of and devising inventions which entail the use of innovative technology. He is not only a conceptualist and a theoretician, but he is also a designer and social engineer.  Future by Design raises questions about the sustainability of our current levels of consumption as human beings and offers alternatives for a society free of war, prisons, and poverty.  A discussion with the director will follow the screening.

This program is free and open to the public.  Seating is limited and on a first-arrival basis.  For more information, contact the Santa Monica Public Library at (310) 458-8600; or visit the library’s website at www.smpl.org
