The Santa Monica Public Library invites teens in grades 6 through 12 to sign up for a writing and discussion workshop with Young Adult author, actress, and musician Michele Dominguez Greene at the Main Library, 601 Santa Monica Boulevard. The workshop will take place over three days—Monday, July 23, Wednesday, July 25, and Friday, July 27—from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Community Room.

Ms. Greene is the author of Chasing the Jaguar, a teen mystery featuring a 15-year-old girl named Martika, who discovers that she has psychic powers from her Mayan ancestors and must use these newfound powers to help solve a kidnapping case. Ms. Greene has also written numerous essays, articles, and screenplays. She has appeared in a variety of television, theatre, and film roles, including TV series “The Unit,” and “L.A. Law.”

Through writing exercises and discussion, this teen workshop will help students improve and enhance their creative writing skills.  The group will also discuss Ms. Greene’s novel Chasing the Jaguar as an example of creative writing. Registration for the workshop can ONLY be made in person at the Youth Reference Desk in the Main Library during library hours.  Teens will receive a FREE copy of Chasing the Jaguar when they sign up for the workshop.
