SANTA MONICA PUBLIC LIBRARY PRESENTS SEMINAR OF MINDFULNESS MEDITATION

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Santa Monica Public Library presents Mindfulness Meditation, a seminar by UCLA Health Care 50 Plus. The program will take place in the Main Library’s Martin Luther King Jr. Auditorium, 601 Santa Monica Boulevard, on Tuesday, June 5 from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. The seminar will focus on mindful awareness techniques that enable you to pay attention to your experiences as they unfold. This interactive program features Dr. Susan L. Smalley and Diana Winston discussing the science behind mindfulness and its effectiveness in reducing stress, boosting the immune system, increasing attention and creating a general sense of well-being. Susan L. Smalley, PhD, is the Founder and Director of the UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center and a UCLA professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences. Diana Winston is the Director of Mindfulness Education at the UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center. Ms. Winston has led trainings and retreats in mindfulness, contemplative practice, and leadership. This program is free and open to the public. Seating is limited and on a first arrival basis.
