FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE The Santa Monica Public Library continues its partnership with the Santa Monica Farmers’ Market with a series of four programs throughout 2007. The Main Library will host the programs on March 29, May 10, August 16, and November 15. All programs will take place in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Auditorium, 601 Santa Monica Blvd., from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The first program in the series, on Thursday, March 29, is The Future of Farmers’ Markets. Panelists for this program include Los Angeles Times columnist Russ Parsons; Evan Kleiman, owner/chef of Angeli Caffe and host of KCRW’s Good Food; Howell Tumlin, executive director of the Southland Farmers’ Market Association; and fruit farmer Mike Cirone. Learn what farmers’ markets will be like in five, ten, and even twenty years from now. Stay afterward for farm-fresh food prepared by Evan Kleiman. Topics for the May, August, and November programs are to be announced. All programs are free and open to the public. Seating is limited and on a first arrival basis.
