The Santa Monica Citywide Reads Advisory Committee is looking for community input for the 2005 book selection.

Citywide Reads' mission is to encourage a culture of reading and to promote book-centered dialogue in Santa Monica.  Book selection criteria include fiction titles that are amenable to good group discussion, have broad appeal, are challenging but not exclusive, and are available in a variety of formats, such as paperback and audiobook.  In 2003, Santa Monica read Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress by Dai Sijie and in 2004, The Berlin Stories by Christopher Isherwood.

To make a suggestion, fill out an online suggestion form at www.smpl.org/cwr or call (310) 458-8600.  Suggestions will be accepted until October 22.

For more information, contact Santa Monica Citywide Reads, Santa Monica Public Library, 1324 Fifth Street, Santa Monica, CA 90401, phone (310) 458-8600, fax: (310) 394-8951; or visit the Citywide Reads Web site www.smpl.org/cwr.
