MISSION
The mission of the Information Systems Department (ISD) is to implement and maintain secure, reliable, responsive, customer-oriented information technology solutions to support the delivery of government information and services.
|
The Information Systems Department (ISD) provides support and advisory services for all City automated information and communication systems. ISD provides planning, designing and programming for the enhancement of existing systems as well as for the development, procurement and implementation of new systems to meet the City's short and long term plans.
ISD has developed and now supports a local and wide area network with approximately 130 servers that provide major software applications to over 1,500 computer users. ISD also manages the City's telecommunications systems including fiber optic networks, Voice-Over Internet Protocol telephony and the City-owned telephone switch. Other management responsibilities include the Geographic Information Systems, and the City's intranet and internet systems which facilitate the electronic delivery of government services and allow the public to communicate with the City 24 hours a day.
ISD provides training and technical support to City staff to empower them to be productive users of software applications. Furthermore, ISD continues to maintain a team of qualified staff to evaluate, develop, implement and maintain information technology standards and system security policies, processes and practices to enable City staff to effectively and efficiently deliver City information to the public.
