LANDLORDS WANTED TO PARTICIPATE IN RENTAL SUBSIDY
GRANT PROGRAM!
Do you own an apartment
building? Does guaranteed, on-time payment of rent
sound good? Join up with the community effort to
house long-term Santa Monica homeless persons…
The City of Santa Monica was
awarded a $948,907 grant in September, 2005 from the
U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The grant, which is renewable annually after the
initial 24-month term, will provide rental subsidies
for 30 chronically homeless individuals who are
addicted to alcohol.

Qualified participants will be given intensive
treatment by local social service agencies such as
OPCC, CLARE Foundation, St. Joseph Center, New
Directions, and Step Up on Second. Once stabilized,
these participants need apartments! A place to live
is the key to helping people become productive
members of society. Tenants will have their rent
paid regularly and on time by the Santa Monica
Housing Authority. They will receive ongoing case
management after being placed in housing, so there
will always be someone for a landlord to call in
case of an emergency.
If you are an interested
landlord and would like more information, please
contact
Setareh Yavari, Senior Administrative Analyst
with the City of Santa Monica’s Human Services
Division at (310) 458-8701. |
